Causes of Deforestation
Much of the Amazon's destruction is driven by human activity. Here are some of the major causes of deforestation.
Cattle Ranching
accounts for 80% of destruction
Mining
has caused 10% of damage and has also caused soil and water pollution.
Logging
to create everyday products like paper and shampoo (as most hygiene
products have palm oil as an ingredient)
